I am relatively new to sales, but from what I can see, if you&#039;re selling a product/service that other people genuinely need, it goes beyond the job of &quot;sales,&quot; per se, and more into the territory of building relationships.  But if you&#039;re selling something that people don&#039;t have a need for and you&#039;re looking at customers as &quot;people who can give you money&quot;, then that&#039;s where sales gets a bad rep.  Unfortunately, I think too many people have been burned by these latter types of salespeople who essentially taint the sales profession for everyone.  But hey, every profession has its bad eggs, you just can&#039;t let them spoil the rest of the bunch...</description>
